Home-Start Watford is the latest of the Home-Start websites I have built. This one uses the Divi template and has used some new methods for displaying news. This technique can be used on all sites, but using the Divi template makes it a bit easier.

All news items are created using Posts. When you create a post you can assign a category to it. I generally use several. When a website first starts up, there is not an immediate need to categorise things. However if you start to categorise them and get used to the idea, it will help people to locate things on your website.
In this case the Watford site has 4 news areas.
1). Bottom of the home page there are the latest six news items.
2). News page contains ALL news items irrespective of category.
3). Fundraising page has a section which lists only those news items relating to Fundraising. So in this case, we know the person looking at the page is interested in fundraising, so we present the last six Fundraising related news items.
4). Events page lists only those posts that are categorised as Events. So you can go to one page and see the latest events with the most recent listed first.
The site also uses images in the posts as well when they are displayed in summary form. This leads to a more interesting news area.
