Error establishing a database connection

Date: 2nd March 2017 reported at 18:25 GMT

There are some issues on the server currently, I have been using the hosting all day without any issues but database errors were reported from most sites at 18:00.

I have just come off of a chat line with the hosting company. They are reporting problems with one of the servers in the hosting where my account is held. There is one account on this server which appears to be hogging the processing bandwidth and they are trying to establish which one it is.

At 18:30 the sites are starting to come back online. I would expect response times to be slower for a while as it sounds like whatever has happened is having a major impact on service delivery.

I run two reseller accounts, one is with another provider, if anyone is concerned I can switch you to an alternative set of hosting. It not as easy as it sounds, and you will need to make some changes to your local configuration, but I can support you if you want to move.

Update 20:00 sites are still down

Update 05:50am 3rd March
All sites are back on line. Whatever the problem was, it was resolved last night. I have raised several support tickets about this, as it is unprecedented to have a loss of service for this long. While we are using shared hosting (it means it is shared with lots of other websites), when it has gone offline for maintenance, it has stopped working for 15 minutes or so.
