Editing Tips
Ideally your News page should appear as a series of short posts listed in date order. Depending on how your site is set up these posts may automatically collapse into a shorter article with the text Continue Reading at the end, or the full post is presented.
You should bear in mind that not everyone will want to read everything on your site, and to help them choose what to read it is good practice to introduce a Post with a summary at the start and then insert the Continue Reading attribute in the editor after the introductory paragraph(s). As a very rough guide ensure it collapses down to half a screen.
Here I have inserted an “Insert More Reading Tag” to reduce the length of this post.
Whiteboard and Post It Note analogy
For those of you that I have trained I have described the News page as a Whiteboard and Posts as Post It Notes stuck on the whiteboard. If you go to the news page in your PAGE editor, you will see there is nothing on it. (hence the whiteboard analogy). Having a news page as the holder allows us some degree of flexibility in having links to it.
To extend the analogy further, it is possible that even in the case where a post is very long, (at least beyond the depth of a screen) you can control how much is visible while a viewer is looking at the News page.
If you do this it will be very easy for viewers to scan your posts and move through them quickly until something attracts their attention. They then read it until they reach the Continue Reading link. At which point they click on it. At this point the Post itself opens on the screen so you can read the full article. This makes your site more user friendly.
To add a Continue Reading link into a Post you need to place your cursor at the appropriate location in your editor, say half way down the screen at a paragraph end and then click on the following symbol in the row of editing icons.

This will place a hidden tag in your content which will be displayed on your screen like this:
![]()
You can also delete it if it is in the wrong position.
