Social media in all of it’s forms is increasingly important, particularly for organisations with small budgets, or no marketing budget at all!
I have come across a very neat plugin for WordPress, it is called Social Media Feather. I have incorporated it on a couple of sites and it seems to be moderately easy to set up.
I have also set it up on this site as well. You can add it to your website by logging in as an administrator and going to Plugins, Add new, and searching for Social Media Feather.
It provides two sets of buttons, one for sharing a site/article/page and another set for following a Facebook/ Twitter or similar feed.
For everyone without exception, there is value in adding this and setting up the sharing buttons. Once set up this will allow anyone that is signed up to the respective social media sites to share your content on their page. That is how social marketing works. You do not need a Facebook page, twitter feed at all to do this.
So couple this with news articles from time to time and the sharing buttons and your articles/ pages / content will reach a wider audience.

If you have a Facebook Group page and/ or Twitter, LinkedIn et al, then you can also have buttons for these as well. These will take the person to your respective group page, there the person can choose to follow you.
On this site I have used the sharing buttons at the bottom of the site, and the Facebook Group and Twitter Feeds in the sidebar. http://www.homestart-nwhampshire.org.uk (also see image below).
The one on the bottom right that looks like an envelope, it simply sends an email to a colleague (the person that presses the button has to put the email address in of course!).
