Sometimes it is desirable to publish something in the future but prepare it now. The commercial world, government and many other organisations who have marketing departments, control the release of news in this way. It has a greater impact if it all comes out together.
It is possible to prepare a news item or post ahead of time and then set it up so that it only becomes visible on a certain date and at a certain time.
To do this you need to first create your post or news item in the editor. Preview it to make sure it looks ok. When you are ready look above the Publish button anf there is a link which says Publish immediately Edit. If you click on Edit you will see the following appear on your screen.
You can see the day, and the time under where it says publish immediately. Simply choose the date and time you want the news item to go out.
If your parent National body (assuming you have one) wishes to do a UK wide press release, you could carry it too on your website and therefore at the point the National body releases the information you could have it live on your site too.
Checking how it works
To simply check how it works, create a post like “hello world” and set it up to publish in 10 minutes time, then visit your news page. The item will not be there. However once 10 minutes have passed it suddenly appears. All handled automatically. So you don’t have to stay up until midnight now to launch your next nationwide campaign.
