In the money (free resources)

I had a problem last week where I wanted to show in a counter the amount of money that had been raised. The counter is dynamic, and an element in the Divi Template which I use on around 50% of the websites I have built.

The problem is if you use the counter you cannot use a leading or trailing symbol (if you do that the element thinks it is text, not a number). So I wanted to convey to anyone reading the value that it was in £’s.

I cannot show you on this website, but I can explain the principle and give you the elements so you can do this yourself.

You need to set a background element in your website to display a special graphic. The graphic is an animated Gif, very small, and looks like the one below:

Animated GIF Image

An animated GIF is an sequence of images overlaid on top of each other and displayed in sequence. This one is very simple. The file is also very small. Not very exciting in this format, but let me show you another example. I have created a Division in this next sequence with an H1 heading with the number 250 in it. I have applied my animated GIF in the background. When it is loaded it stepped and repeated across the background behind the heading automatically. So in this case the viewer knows this is £250, and their attention is directed towards it because it is animated.

250

If you are using a Divi Based website then you can create either a Text box or number counter and add one of the two background GIFs listed below. One is single colour flashing, the other is two colours and sequenced Off/ On in turn.

Click here to open the single £ Gif image

Click here to open the dual £ Gif image

Both of these will open in a new window, just save the image file locally as you would any other.

If you would like to use this somewhere, but are stuck. Drop me a line and I will set it up for you.
